Fire Report Available |
Hello {FIRST_NAME|Flash Memory Partner}, Here's a brief update on the status of the fire in August. We've recently been in touch with one of the lead attorneys of one of the insurance companies involved in the eventual settlement of claims resulting from August's fire at the Flash Memory Summit. Note here that the focus of efforts right now is the establishment of forensic liabilities. According to the attorney, a team of forensic examiners are in the process of developing a protocol for destructive examination and fire modeling for the evidence collected last August. The protocol is important for all who are potentially responsible for the loss to know when and where the testing will occur. And since the testing, in and of itself, is expected to be partially destructive of evidence collected, it becomes all the more imperative that all participants be in agreement for the testing. How long will that take? Despite behind-the-scenes "proddings" for an answer, we honestly don't know.. As soon as we do know, we'll pass along the information. The City of Santa Clara seems to have taken charge of developing the protocol using its fire engineer as the lead engineer. The attorney for the City has requested that we not contact that engineer; so we too await his decision and recommendations for the scheduling of the tests and inspection of the evidence. Chip |
