SANTA CLARA, CA –June 26, 2019 – Flash Memory Summit today announced new sessions that prepare storage designers for the data tsunami of the zettabyte era will be presented at the annual conference August 6-8, 2019 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA.
IDC predicts that the total amount of digital data produced annually will be 50 zettabytes in 2020 and forecasts that amount to nearly double every year thereafter. Zettabyte-class storage requires new interfaces such as CXL and Gen-Z and new architectures including composable infrastructures, computational storage, and programmable devices. To achieve top performance, the latest storage technologies, including 3D XPoint, expanded multilayer 3D flash, QLC flash, new variations, and new memory technologies must be applied.
The 2019 Flash Memory Summit features sessions covering all these technologies plus the fastest networked storage including NVMe-over-Fabrics, improved IO software architectures, and application acceleration. Other topics include hyperscale applications, using AI for flash performance scaling, and designing storage systems for the zettabyte era. Closing panels will cover designing storage for the coming data tsunami, best methods for implementing persistent storage, and flash memory, IoT, and AI. Storage developers can also participate in a persistent memory (PM) hackathon, which will help them make their current software PM-aware.
According to exabyte storage presenter Rob Peglar, veteran industry leader and consultant, Were now at a turning point in storage. To handle the amount of data required by real-time analytics, AI/ML, HPC, and IoT, designers must look for entirely new methods that emphasize high throughput, direct access to all resources and functionality, tremendous flexibility, and scalability beyond anything we have ever seen. Flash Memory Summit is the place to hear about all the new technologies and methods for attendees ranging from beginners to storage and networking experts.
FMS 2019 features the latest technology trends, the most exciting products, and the broadest coverage of the rapidly expanding market. In 2018, FMS drew over 6,200 registrants and over 120 exhibitors. The 2019 event promises to be even stronger. The conference also features marketing and market research tracks, and sessions sponsored by NVM Express, SNIA, JEDEC, SCSI Trade Association, SD Card Association, UFSA, and the Fibre Channel Industry Association. Popular continuing features include a one-on-one expert table session, performance testing results, and a VC Forum.
